Code of Conduct

We aim to create a welcoming and friendly space in our programme, across online and in-person engagements. All who participate in our fellowship (including events that are open to the wider audience) should strive to observe the highest standards of conduct to contribute to a positive experience for all.

General Principles

We expect all participants to be mindful of our speech and behaviour, to help us keep a friendly, respectful and safe space for everyone. Please exercise good judgment, maturity and common sense.

Human interactions can be complex and confusing. Disagreements happen but it is important that we seek to understand each other better and be respectful. Try to resolve differing views constructively by giving each other the benefit of explaining and sharing. Treat each other kindly.

Expectations:

  • Please be respectful, polite and be kind.

  • We ask that everyone be open-minded — even if we disagree with someone’s else’s view, try to understand why.

  • Help to contribute to a safe and conducive space for constructive discussions.

  • Strive to adopt a collaborative mindset.

  • Offer solutions-oriented ideas/comments when presenting or discussing a complex or uncomfortable issue.

  • Be inclusive towards others in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, national origin, etc.

  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality needs of others.

Unacceptable behaviours:

1. Do not harass or discriminate in any way against any person, including but not limited to:

  • Violent threats or language directed against another person

  • Discriminatory jokes and language

  • Posting sexually explicit or violent material

  • Personal insults

  • Unwelcome sexual attention

  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour

2. Refrain from gossip or malicious comments about other participants or members in the community. Do not engage in any behaviour designed to create discord.

3. Don’t engage in conduct that is dishonest, illegal or unethical.

4. Disruptive behaviours at community events, including talks and presentations.

[We reserve the right to remove individuals who are disruptive and behave inappropriately from our events, with or without warning.]
