Create a more sustainable and humane food system.

The Southeast Asia Farm Animal Welfare Fellowship (SEAFAWF) is for those who are seeking a career in changing the industrial animal agriculture landscape in Southeast Asia.

Participants will learn about the issues in the sustainability of food systems and the different career pathways that one can pursue to help create a more sustainable and humane future.

Fellows will get the opportunity to learn from professionals in different fields, such as leaders of organisations, advocates, researchers, legal experts, corporate engagement specialists and more. They will also be exposed to different solutions — plant-based movement building, improving farm animal welfare, promoting alternative proteins — with access to discussions to help identify and prioritise the strategies that would work best in their local settings.

This programme sees network building as key to building a career in this field, and is being designed to grow a strong and coordinated network of peers, mentors and organisations in the region.

Transform the food system

Why?

Southeast Asia is one of regions in the world with the highest number of animals raised in intensive animal agriculture for meat, eggs and dairy (FAO stats, 2019).

Intensive animal agriculture is “one of the most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems”. As global meat consumption continues to rise, Southeast Asia plays an important role in ensuring that the food production system is efficient, humane and sustainable.

This fellowship aims to support efforts of individuals and groups in solutions such as plant-based movement building, farm animal welfare improvement and the promotion of alternative proteins.

Join this fellowship to be empowered in creating change.
